Description
Conventional down hole treatments for corrosion (i.e. periodic batch treatments) typically introduce large amounts of inhibitor into the service environment to effect a change in the corrosion profile of the well. These treatments are designed to quickly establish an inhibitor film along the production string and reduce the corrosion level. The inhibitor film remains on the tubing until it is “stripped off’ by incoming fluids. Depending on the type of inhibitor, production volumes and down hole dynamics, a batch treatment can provide several days on up to a week of protection until retreatment is required.
